I open my eyes, think of You

It’s how I start my day

Go to Your word and read

Fall to my knees and pray

Prepared to face the world outside

Yet not without constant prayer

For I want to be about Your message

Let others know of Your love and care

Lord I need You every moment

In my humanity so frail and weak

Help me to be strong in obedience

To do Your will is what I seek

 A Talk With My Savior

My creative juices drying,

From the heat of life’s pace

Body beat and tiring

From the distance of the race

Just a gentle spark needed

 To relight the torch

So I sit and talk with my Savior

 On the front porch

Sometimes succumbing

To the rough daily grind

My inner spirit screams for rest,

A chance to unwind

My soul seeks serenity

A chance to be still

So I sit and talk with my Savior

On the side of the hill

 Better than anything

In a time of strife

Providing some insight

 To a needed way on life

A chance to smile

To unburden my load
